Requirements for Chemical Control of Cotton

Many cotton farmers in many places often fail to grasp the chemical control of cotton. To varying degrees, the cotton plants tend to grow vigorously, elongate fruit nodes and cluster buds, and the cotton plants are "high, large and empty". Because of the large closure degree in the field, the buds and bolls fall off seriously, the bolls rot more and the pests are heavier (due to the difficulty of spraying pesticides evenly), and the cotton plants are prone to lodging and loss.

Requirements for Chemical Control of Cotton

(1) Late chemical control
Most cotton farmers are often "uncontrolled" (mainly for fear of "inaccurate dosage control", cotton plant "blocked"), to "wait" for the cotton plant to grow strong before "hard control", the result is - either "uncontrollable", the plant flew rapidly; or is a "short control" and then use fertilizer to urge, medication solution. As a result, cotton plants grew rapidly and almost stopped growing, resulting in serious disharmony between vegetative growth and reproductive growth, and uneven distribution of fruit branches and buds and bolls. This is like a car braking suddenly at a high speed. Whether it can't stop or brake, it will make the car (cotton plant) very injured. In fact, just like a car driving at a medium speed is safe and fuel-saving, it is best to take "a small number of times, light control and hard control" on the cotton plant, and to keep the cotton plant strong but not vigorous and steady growth all the time. Status!

(2) Less number of chemical control
Some so-called "experts" and "professors" who go to the countryside to lecture and sell seeds deliberately weaken the importance of management technology in order to "highlight" the advantages of cotton seeds and sell more seeds. What they say "cotton can be controlled three times in a lifetime" is very misleading to ordinary cotton farmers. In fact, these people are completely "talking on paper", just as absurd as asking people to change "three meals a day" to "one meal a day".

(3) improper selection of chemical control products
At present, there are many chemical control products on the market, such as "shrinking platinum", "three no matter" and so on. The propaganda is much better, but is it really "magic"? In fact, there are two main types of these products: one is that fertilizers are supplemented with meglumine, the other is that fertilizers are supplemented with chlormequat. However, due to the fact that the cost of chlormequat raw materials is significantly lower than that of meglumine, the second category of products is more on the market.

(4) Choice of Mepiquat amine
The generic name of Mepiquat is mepiquat buzz.
Generally, it works 3-5 days after use and lasts for 15-25 days (depending on the amount of use, rainfall, variety sensitivity, growth and so on). The main effects of Mepiquat on cotton are as follows:

(1). It can delay the elongation of main stem and fruit branch, prevent the elongation, obviously reduce plant height and shape reasonable plant type.

(2) Effectively control the growth of apical bud, leaf branch (vegetative branch) and axillary bud (vegetative bud). The growth of axillary buds could be reduced by 70% and the number of axillary buds could be reduced. The length of leaf branches could be shortened by more than 50% without pruning.

(3)Inhibiting the expansion of leaves, improving photosynthesis of leaves, prolonging the functional period of leaves by 5 to 7 days. The radiation transmittance of cotton field can be increased by 17%~35.6% compared with the control.

(4) Promoting root development, enhancing root activity and nutrient uptake, thus greatly enhancing drought resistance, waterlogging resistance and early senescence resistance. _Because of adjustable nutrient flow direction and flow in cotton plant, the growth of buds and bolls is accelerated, and the drop rate is reduced, so that the Boll-setting rate of middle and lower cotton bolls and inner cotton bolls is increased. According to statistics, the correct use of Mepiquat can increase Boll-setting per plant by 0.5-2 and boll weight by 0.2-0.9 grams.

In a word, the good effects of amination control can be summarized as "three decreases and five improvements": reducing the falling off of buds and bolls, reducing the occurrence of insect pests, reducing rotten bolls, improving drought resistance, improving waterlogging resistance, improving the ability of resisting premature senescence, increasing yield and improving quality.

(5) Key Points of Chemical Control
Chemical regulation must take into account the factors such as varieties, soil fertility, water and fertilizer, cotton growth, density, climate conditions and so on. The time and amount of chemical regulation should be determined according to local conditions. The following three suggestions are put forward: first, early, second, less and third, diligent.
Firstly, we need to "early": early control is conducive to laying a good foundation for achieving good chemical control effect in the future. Start the first chemical control. Attention should be paid to the need for initial use not to be too large, with no obvious inhibition effect as the best, in order to lay a good foundation for determining the next use.
Secondly, "less": in order to avoid the strong inhibition of cotton by excessive single dosage, we should master "eat less and eat more meals". In practice, the best effect is to divide the amount of Mepiquat into two or three times (water can be diluted according to a certain proportion before it is applied).
Thirdly, "diligence": in order to avoid excessive single use, but also to achieve the desired chemical control effect, of course, there is no lack of a "diligence" word. Chemical control does not need to be used alone. It can be combined with cotton to control aphids, mites, cotton bugs, cotton bollworm and prevent diseases.
Or combined with foliar spraying of nutrient regulators (note: apart from not being mixed with gibberellin, mepiquat can be mixed with plant growth regulators such as brassin, naphthalene acetic acid, cytokinin, or nutrient elements such as diammonium phosphate solution, potassium sulfate solution, foliar fertilizer and other products, so as to achieve "promoting and controlling combination", prevent premature senescence, reduce bud and bell shedding, and increase yield). Master "all over the drug control" or "one time interval control" (according to the force of the ground, rainfall, growth and flexible grasp).

In a word, we should grasp the principle of "a small number of times, light control, diligent control, front and back" in chemical control of cotton. We must avoid the situation of "plant height to chest" or "no one is seen in the cotton field". It is appropriate to achieve "standing in the cotton field, plant height to waist" in the later stage of cotton growth, so as to realize the growth of short trees and peaches.
