The survival rate of grafted seedlings depends on the quality of management after grafting. It usually takes 10 to 12 days to survive from grafting. During this period, we should pay attention to the main links of heat preservation, moisture preservation and shading.
How to manage the grafted seedlings of melon?
1. Insulation:
The suitable temperature for grafting seedling healing was 25 ~30 C in the daytime and 18 ~20 C in the night. The survival rate would be affected by the temperature above 40 ~10 ~C. Shade and prevent high temperature in sunny days, cover with heat preservation at night. After 5-7 days, the temperature in daytime keeps at 30-32 C, above 15 C at night, and the ground temperature is 20 C. After 7-12 days, the temperature ranged from 28 to 30 C in the daytime, 13 C in the night and 18 C in the ground.
2. Moisturizing:
The key to improve the survival rate of grafting is to minimize water evaporation of scions. The air humidity in the seedbed is small, and the scions are easy to lose water and wilt, which will affect the survival of seedlings seriously. In order to ensure humidity, the seedbed should be watered through when planting. The small arch shed in the seedbed should be sealed and sealed so that the humidity in the shed can reach 85%-90% for 3-7 days and 80%-85% for 7 days. After 10 days, the grafted seedlings will grow new leaves and survive.
3. Shading:
Cover the roof with a covering material within 3 days after grafting to avoid direct sunlight and a small amount of scattering light. If all shading, the seedlings will appear yellowing phenomenon, affecting the survival rate of 3 days after the early and late shading can be removed, after the seedling gradually increased transparency, extended light transmission time, 7 days after no shading.
4. Ventilation:
Within 3 days of grafting, the two ends of the film can be uncovered for ventilation 1-2 times a day. After 5 days, the new leaves of the grafted seedlings begin to grow. The ventilation rate should be gradually increased, and the ventilation time should be shorter to longer.
5. Remove rootstock germination:
After removing the growing point of rootstocks, side buds still germinate one after another. These side buds grow rapidly, often compete with scions for nutrients, affecting the survival of grafted seedlings, and should be removed in time. At the same time, attention should be paid to light operation, so as not to damage cotyledons and loosen scions.
6. Root-cutting:
The hypocotyl of the scion can be cut off from 0.5-1 cm below the interface 10-12 days after grafting, and the hypocotyl of the scion can be cleared by two knives. When rooting is broken, 2 to 3 plants can be tested first. If wilting does not occur, all roots can be cut the next day. If there is high temperature in sunny days after root cutting, shade and water spraying should be appropriate.
7. Remove grafting clips:
When the grafted seedling passes through the slow seedling stage, the scion grows new leaves, which proves that the grafted seedling has survived. After 10 days, the grafting clip should be removed in time. If the interface is not good, the grafting clip can be removed gradually after planting. In order to avoid affecting the growth and development of grafted seedlings.
