Iron is an essential trace nutrient element for Apple trees, and it is also a component and activator of various enzymes. It plays an important role in the redox reaction of apple trees, directly affects the formation and function of chlorophyll in leaves, and plays an important and irreplaceable role in the growth and yield formation of apple trees.
How to Replenish Iron in Apple Trees
When the iron content of apple leaves is 150 ppm, it is generally the critical value of iron deficiency of apple trees, and when the soil available content is less than 4.5 ppm, it is the index of iron deficiency of apple soil. The typical morphological symptoms of iron deficiency in apple trees are chlorosis and yellowing of leaves, also known as yellow leaf disease. The symptoms first manifested in the young leaves growing at the top of new shoots turning yellow and green, and then white, while the veins remained green, showing a green network, serious top withered, showing a dry shoot.
Application of Iron Fertilizer
Ferrous fertilizer application in soil: combined with base fertilizer application in autumn, 0.15-0.2 kg of ferrous sulfate or integrated iron were mixed with each plant in organic fertilizer. It is better not to use this method in alkaline orchards to prevent iron from being solidified and not absorbed by roots.
Spraying iron fertilizer on the leaves: During the growth period of fruit trees, spraying 0.3%-0.5% ferrous sulfate, ferric citrate or organic integrated iron solution on the leaves, usually once every 10-15 days, continuous spraying 2-3 times can be done. If spraying iron fertilizer on the leaves of fruit trees, organic iron fertilizer should be selected as far as possible to avoid polluting the fruit surface caused by fertilizer damage.
Branch and trunk injection: For fruit trees with heavy iron deficiency, the most commonly used and the best effect is to inject branches and trunks with 0.15%-0.1% ferrous sulfate solution.
