  At the beginning of strawberry planting (7-10 days), when the first new leaf grows 3-5 cm, the dead leaves and rotten leaves on strawberry plants have lost their photosynthetic function. If the leaves are removed at this time, scissors should be used to cut the leaves 10-20 cm away from the base of the petiole, and then remove the remaining petioles. The root system of Shanghai strawberry is not conducive to the slow seedling of strawberry.

  Twenty days after planting, the strawberry plant was touched lightly by hand. It felt that the strawberry was firmly rooted and the plant did not shake any more. In the morning, there was a phenomenon of "spitting water" on the edge of the leaves, indicating that the root system grew well and the strawberry seedlings began to grow slowly. At this time, if the old leaves or petioles need to be removed, the petiole could be grasped gently to one side, and the sheath and leaf blade could be removed. If the strawberry is still shaking, in order not to damage the root system, one hand can hold the root stem, the other hand can take off the leaves. For 2/3 of the normal and erect leaves can not be removed, forcible removal will cause damage to the root and stem, susceptible to disease.

  Later, in the process of strawberry growth, about every 7 to 8 days a leaf grows, new leaves continue to produce, old leaves continue to wither. When it was found that the lower leaves of the plant grew horizontally and the edge of the sheath began to discolor, it indicated that the leaf had lost its photosynthetic function and needed to be removed in time. When the sheath was removed, the sheath should be removed together. Removal of leaves is conducive to ventilation and light transmission, reduce the occurrence of gray mold, fruit full light, ripening, fast color change, good taste. Especially the blades in the middle of the border should be tidied up. However, leaf removal should not be excessive, and should be based on the growth of plants and leaves to decide whether to remove. As long as the plant growth is normal, the leaf function is sound, and the condition of ventilation and light transmission is satisfied, the leaf can not be removed. The removed leaves should be packed in plastic bags, taken out of the greenhouse, centralized treatment, not stacked in the greenhouse, causing the spread of pests and diseases. Leaf removal should be done in the morning.
